Idaho - BeLonG To

http://www.belongto.org/home.aspx

From Day Against Homophobia

Following other initiatives such as the National Day Against Homophobia created in 2003 in the Quebec province of Canada by the Fondation Emergence and celebrated in June,Louis-Georges Tin, a French university lecturer, campaigner for Black and LGBT Rights and chief editor of the «Dictionary of Homophobia», launched in August 2004 an initiative to create an International Day Against Homophobia that is global in scope. He launched an appeal « For a universal recognition of the International Day Against Homophobia » (IDAHO) and proposed that this day be fixed on May 17th, to commemorate the World Health Organisation’s decision to remove homosexuality from the list of mental disorders.
By May 17th 2005, as a result of a year long campaigning effort, 24000 people worldwide and reputed international organisations like ILGA, IGLHRC, the World Congress of LGBT Jews, the Coalition of African lesbians, to name but a few, had signed the “IDAHO appeal”. In May 2005 already, the IDAHO saw some activities take place in many countries in the world. The first LGBT events ever were organised in Congo, China and Bulgaria. Josepp Borrell, President of the European Parliament made a statement supporting the IDAHO and invited Tin to the conference the EU Parliament organised for IDAHO 2006.
By that time a new campaign had been launched calling « For a universal decriminalisation of homosexuality » and by May 17th 2006 it had attracted support from several Nobel Prize winners (Desmond Tutu, Amartya Sen, Elfriede Jelinek, Dario Fo, José Saramago), artists (Merryl Streep, Cindy Lauper, Elton John, David Bowie), intellectuals (Noam Chomsky, Judith Butler, Bernard-Henri Lévy), NGOs (ILGA, FIDH), politicians, etc...
For IDAHO 2006 again, the IDAHO Committee and GayRussia co-organised the first GayPride in Moscow, preceded by an International IDAHO conference that brought together many activists, organisations and politicians from around Europe and North America. In July 2006, thanks to the efforts of Fondation Emergence, the Montreal Conference on LGBT Human Rights, organised in the wake of the Outgames, included in its Declaration of Montreal a strong recommendation to all Governments to recognise May 17th as the International Day Against Homophobia.

GayRomLit Retreat 2012

It's that time again.
The details have been announced for This Years GayRomLit Retreat

Here are the details if any of you are interested,
But hurry up, theirs not many more places left!

Registration is now underway for the second annual GayRomLit Retreat. This year's event will occur October 18-21, 2012 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We call it a retreat instead of a conference or convention so that the emphasis can be on building relationships, reinvigorating creative energies, and presenting varied and informal opportunities for readers, authors, and publishers to renew friendships and make new ones.
The information that contains the preliminary program of events and activities planned as well as details you'll want to know about registration, hotel, transporation, and more will be available soon. While we're confident that most events and activities will occur as stated, some details were still awaiting confirmation at the end of Publisher Registration.
This is the must-attend event for all who enjoy creating, reading, and publishing gay romance. Registration is limited to a maximum of 400 people so don't delay. We hope to see you in Albuquerque!

Book of the Week (the Gordon Challenge)

I am hoping to start something new and try and stay with it this time **sheepish shrug**

Every Sunday I will post My Book of the Week.

Previously I had planned to rate all the books I read as I read them, unfortunately, I read so many that it is just impossible to get through rating them all and posting all the information for each one. Therefore from now on I will be picking my favourite book from the list of books I read that week and posting about that one.

I will list the books I have read that week with a link to its details on Goodreads as what can I say, GR is awesome!

Hopefully it will also give me the incentive to actually go through my GR shelf and start clearing out my “Currently-Reading” shelf considering I have approximately 90 books on the shelf even though I have actually finished them.

**Opps**

So here’s to hoping this will work. Please let me know what you all think about my choices.

I think I will call this the Gordon Challenge to myself, in honor of the new member of my family; Gordo Gekco (yes I know he’s a bearded dragon but my fiancé has always wanted a lizard to name after Gordon Gekco from Wall Street. Do you think they look alike?

Release Date: 10th July 2011
Publisher: Siren Publishing

Book: Montana's Vamp
Author: Lynn Hagen

Blurb:
Gabriele Sloane has been picked on his entire life by the coven he grew up in. They taunted him, ridiculed him, and downright hated him. Dodging the sun and low on his diabetic supplies, he wanders aimlessly until he finds himself in the arms of one bald and sexy shifter.
Montana Graton hates vampires with a passion. His best friend was killed by one. Hungry and bored, he decides to visit the diner in town. The little redhead sitting one booth over looks good enough to roll around in the back of his truck with—until the smell hits him and he discovers the redhead is his mate.
Can Montana set aside his hatred and claim the little vamp, or will he allow his festering hate to surface and turn his back on the sexy little fireball fate has given him?

Note: Each book in Lynn Hagen's Brac Pack collection features a different romantic couple. Each title stands alone and can be read in any order. However, we recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Book: Vet Found - Hiding Houds, #2
Author: Joyee Flynn

My Review:
This is one steamy book! I love it!
Dr Cameron really hasn't a clue what he is getting himself in for when he agrees to head up into the mountains to a small community of puppy shifters. He wants to help them, stop them from dying out due to disease. He is evious of the relationship between his friend and Randalls mate but doesn't think that he will ever find someone. Until he meets Quaid.
Quiad has secrets he is ashamed of and even though he has found and claimed his mate it is still not easy for him. He has a hard time trying to explain himself as he has never told anyone his secrets before so when the time comes for him to it doesn't happen the way he had expected.
Between the secrets and mis-understandings, things don't go well for either Quaid or Cameron. Can they find what they are both looking for in eachother before their hearts fall apart completely?

The story between Cameron and Quaid is the age old argument of not listening to one another and not giving them time to explain before conclusions are jumped to.

There is always something...
For each of the Blaecleah Brothers that have found their love there has always been a story behind them, and this one is no different. Matty has grown up in his parents house always hiding what he is. The good Reverend McCallister is the worst kind of God-fearing man. Once of the one's that put's the fear of not only God but the fear of themselves into everyone that are known by them and his son is no different. Matty know's that to be himself he will have to leave the only place he has ever called home. The people of his small town will never except him, not while his father is practically running the place.
So he leaves, but after a few revelations he is not alone. His younger brother is with him also. The he meets the Blaecleah family and more importantly Quiad. Can he hope to be himself and will Quaid feel the same for him that he instantly feels for Quaid?

Ratings

As promised, below you will find the new rating system that I will be using for each book from now on.

First off we have the KISS (Kelly's Idea of StarS) Factor.

This will be the rating I give a book on the following scale:

Excellent

Very Good

Good

Fair

Poor

Sorry :(

Hi all, I'm sorry I know it has been a while since I have been on and updated anything on here.

Sorry Comments

I have been thinking about it and want to try something that is a little different.
In the past I have been posting the books I have been Reading, their Blurb and my rating.

I have to say that I read some much in one week that I generally don't have time to write anything about the book, and also have the details of so many books in my head that I get confused.

Well, time for a new leaf I tihnk. I will try my best to write at least a line or 2 about each book I read, but I will also let you know what I'm going to read next, (As long as I don't change my mind when I get to the book, that actually happens quite a lot), and also what books are due to be released. I will also try and find as many competitions as I can and let you know about them.

I will also be adding a new rating system to the blog. This will be posted shortly.

I'm going to Sign off for now and get a list of a few books that are due to be released by the end of this week.

Time to get cracking.
